To my fellow non-native speakers -- why is it easier to understand than to speak fluently, and what can we do to improve this?

When I began my studies abroad, though I have a good understanding of English and passing the TOEFL & IELTS tests, expressing myself verbally can be painfully intimidating.

You may feel surprised: I even had hesitated when responding to very basic phrases like "How are you?" and "Thank you."

Recently, I've realized I'm not alone; many of my international peers share this struggle. In particular, many professionals understand the language very well, but struggle to respond with fluent sentences. This can sometimes give the impression of “less knowledgeable” in certain scenarios than they really are. Ugh!

In today’s post, I will share my personal experiences and tips overcoming this challenge. Please feel free to comment and share your experiences and tips, and share the post with anyone who might find it helpful.

Additionally, don’t hesitate to share any feedback or suggestions on the content! I really enjoyed summarizing and designing it, and am excited to enhance my skills further! Thank you! 😊

甚至在回答 How are you?"
